Joburg Ballet teams up with Candice Berman Gallery to launch its first photographic exhibition, Framing the Body in Motion, featuring acclaimed South African photographer Kamogelo Machaba and artists of Joburg Ballet. Presented during Joburg Ballet's 25th Anniversary year, the exhibition captures a moment in the company's history, documenting a diverse generation of dancers who embody Joburg Ballet today and beyond. Curated by Artistic Director Dane Hurst in collaboration with Kamogelo Machaba (with support from Fujifilm) and fashion label BAM of BAM Collective, the exhibition will showcase the company through photography, fashion, colour and movement.

Solomon Omogboye paints life as it is actually lived: imperfect, unpredictable, and full of moments worth holding onto. He builds his figures from long, woven strokes of colour laid down in thick, energetic patches. Each figure sits inside a veil of moving light.

Omogboye works by breaking a composition into the separate elements that carry emotion, knowing that the smallest shift in one can change the feeling of the whole. The result is a figure that holds many things at once: concern and wonder, effort and joy.

In When Light Meets Hope, light becomes the thread that runs through it all. These paintings don't pretend the journey is easy. They show people moving through it with courage, curiosity and gratitude, and they suggest that hope is often a matter of how we choose to look.
