Join SoniX  Listening Session for an evening of listening and conversation about music over a glass of wine.

This edition of SoniX features Riaan Oppelt, guitarist and songwriter of the band Aldano, who takes us into the soundworlds that shaped their new album, Home or Away, Part 1 (Listen: open.spotify.com/album/5hHqfVztDJdHIziNQl79Go ; aldano.bandcamp.com)

Home or Away, Part 1 began as an attempt to make sense of movement: friends leaving South Africa, migrants arriving, and the complicated emotions of staying behind, or adjusting. The album’s eclectic sound world reflects those journeys, bringing together several languages and a wide range of musical influences to create a record about connection, loss, hope, and the search for belonging.
