In this new series of paintings and drawings, Eulogia returns to a question that has run through her practice for years: what takes place within the shared territory between humans and animals?

Rather than understanding this relationship as one of dominance or companionship, the artist conceives it as a reciprocal force of transformation. Drawing on Indigenous cosmologies from different parts of the world, where the divide between humanity and animality has never been absolute, Eulogia explores the spiritual and emotional bonds that connect humans with the animal world. Animals appear as familiar, enigmatic and sentient presences, while almost totemic human figures seem to contain multiple selves, their layered surfaces suggesting different memories, emotions and versions of being.

For this exhibition, Eulogia turns her attention to the animals of Southern Africa, incorporating them into an imagined mythology rather than approaching them through a scientific or documentary lens. Scenes of empathy, care, playfulness and estrangement invite the viewer to question who guides whom, who observes and who is being observed. Through intuitive painting and drawing, Eulogia allows these encounters to unfold without predetermined conclusions, inviting viewers to complete the narratives
